The present Douglas County Courthouse, built in 1913, is
the third to be used since the county was established in the late 1850s.
It and it's immediate predecessor both were built in the center of the
square block which was originally intended to be the center of the
business district. An error on the part of a railroad construction
crew took the business district about a half-mile to the north. |
