The Record-Herald, Arcola's weekly newspaper, continues a tradition of community newspaper excellence in Arcola that dates back to the late 1800s.

The Record-Herald and local papers that preceded it have served Arcola and the surrounding area since 1866. An early editor/publisher was John Marshall Gruelle, Johnny Gruelle's uncle.

It has a history of strong Family ownership and is currently owned and operated by Chris and Cindy Slack.  The Slacks have owned the newspaper since July 2002 and purchased it from Don and Linda Rankin, who were the newspaper's owners for approximately 25 years.

In addition to extensive coverage of news from Arcola, the Record-Herald also has a small-scale commercial printing operation capable of printing a wide range of products from business cards to two-color brochures.
