The Record-Herald, Arcola's weekly newspaper, continues a
tradition of community newspaper excellence in Arcola that dates back to the
late 1800s.
The Record-Herald and local papers that preceded it have
served Arcola and the surrounding area since 1866. An early editor/publisher
was John Marshall Gruelle, Johnny Gruelle's uncle.
It has a history of strong Family ownership and is currently
owned and operated by Chris and Cindy Slack. The Slacks have owned the
newspaper since July 2002 and purchased it from Don and Linda Rankin, who
were the newspaper's owners for approximately 25 years.
In addition to extensive coverage of news from Arcola, the
Record-Herald also has a small-scale commercial printing operation capable
of printing a wide range of products from business cards to two-color
brochures.
The Record-Herald office is located at 118 E. Main St.,
